Very pretty stuff. And I love how the turtle pics were thrown in with the flowers.

What are the purple flowers (5th pic down from the top?) Those are pretty.

Who says cell phones are killing the bees? Great pictures Tall Chick. Do you have a pet turtle?

Amanda - We were planting flowers ad the neighbour was working in her yard, too. ALl of a sudden she called over, "Hey, do your kids like turtles?"

Why yes, they do!

This big guy was emerging from her mulch. They took him to observe for a while, and then we dropped him off at the pond when MuNKi got home. :)

Egan - Is it all bees, or just honeybees? Can you imagine people actually giving up cell phones if they were determined to be the cause of the bees' demise? I can't. But that's the cynic in me. :) And the smug bitch, since I haven't got a cell. ^_^ See above story for turtle info. :) He was big. I guess he's a snapper, but he was VERY laid back.

Amanda - the flowers are "Speedwell 'royal candles' Veronica" according to their tag. I dunno. I just liked them, and they were perennials and not expensive, LOL!

Huh, so the turtle was just hanging out in your neighbor's yard? How cool. I don't believe people would give them up either, me cynic too.

He was buried in the (new) mulch. We couldn't tell whether he had dug in under the old stuff and was just emerging for the Spring, or had just wandered in and submerged himself in the nice, new, warm mulch. ^_^

Mulch is very comfortable. I've got to spread some out to control the weed growth in our yard. I like turtles.

I do, too, unless they are trying to kill me.

I have a love/hate relationship with mulch.

New post may change your mind about wanting me for a mom.

Mulch smells like pee. At least the stuff I walk past while coming into my building at work smells like pee.

Did they name the turtle? My little brother went through 2 pet turtles when we were growing up. They were fun.

Eeeeew! Mulch that smells like pee would be spectacularly bad!

I think they called him Stinky because he smelled so bad. ^_^ Actually, I don't think they named this one. Usually they do name our visitors, but they knew he wasn't staying.

What kind of turtles? Painted?

armalicious said...

I think one of them was a snapper that he found in my grandpa's yard in Missouri. I think the other one was just a box turtle or something like that.

What kind of mulch are you using ARM? Manure and mulch are two different things used in different ways in a garden. Fess up now!

These are so vibrant and pretty!

Amanda - oooh! Snappers can be so cranky!

Egan - Are you suggesting that Amanda is mulching with manure? I think this was the mulch at work, though. Maybe one of her weird co-workers (like Mr. Smile) is afraid of using the bathroom and uses the mulch instead.

Jay - thank you! :)

HA! I don't know what kind of mulch they use here. But it's rank. It's hard to really explain the smell I have smell each morning, but it's a cross between really strong mildew & pee. I think it's because that side of the building doesn't get much sun, so the mulch is always wet.

Although, maybe Smiles does use that for his potty breaks. He's so smiley because he gets to be outside to do his business!

We British men call them tortoises. And we'll fight you for calling them any different. :)

I used to race tortoises when I was lad. When I was "knee-high to a grasshopper."

Sometimes it took all day...

Amanda - That is just - eeeew! I suppose it could be the whole composting thing going on under there, too. :-P

Winters - Here a tortoise is a land-dweller (and usually rounder and taller in the shell) and a turtle is a pond dweller. And I guess until you show me differently, I'm not too frightened by that threat. ;)

Who would tend to win? You or the tortoise? ^_^

Good for me - I'm glad they have good colour for you. :) I was bummed to look at them on MuNKi's computer on it. They look all washed out. On the 'puter I used to post, they look much better.

Gawpo - you mean so they get bigger? Sure I can send them. No problemo! How big are you wanting?? I'm guessing not full size. LMK. :)
